摘要

In machine tools, the cutting tool is the most important component; its performance determines the overall productivity. Malfunctioning of the cutting tool may be predicted by diagnostics based on monitoring of the processes in the cutting zone. In our view, the best diagnostic approach is analysis of the gases formed on cutting and released from the cutting zone together with the chip. This method may be used with variation in the tool characteristics and the properties of the blank.
