The US economy posted its fastest pace of growth in a year in the third quarter (July-September) of 2013. The world's largest economy expanded at a 2.8% annual rate in the July-September 2013 period against 2.5% growth recorded in the previous quarter. According to the Commerce Department, the growth was due to rise in exports, businesses and home construction as well as higher Government spending. The US has been expanding around 2% in the past few years and has been struggling to break out of its low-growth orbit.
