Did ITRC achieve its proclaimed goal?

The export curb launched in October 2012 by the International Tripartite Rubber Council (ITRC) remained a hot topic of discussion among rubber fraternity the world over until a couple of months ago. Did ITRC succeed in bringing down export of natural rubber by the agreed 300,000 tonne and in meeting the objective of bolstering rubber prices and thereby raising farmers' income? In the context of the closure of curtailment programme in March 2012, this article attempts to evaluate its implementation and the impact on rubber prices and farmers' income.
