Despite impressive progress, the Sri Lankan rubber industry is still plagued by a series of drawbacks such as: Incapability of the aged tappers which can greatly affect NR productivity, declining planted area, labour shortage, low land and worker productivity, high cost of production, inadequate resources, social disparity, poverty in the estates etc.
