Let us dictate global prices

This has reference to your excellent editorial (July-August 2008 issue) on the first India Rubber Summit and Dinner 2008. First, let me congratulate Rubber Asia for taking the initiative to organise the event. I had the privilege of attending the various sessions, and I noted the many elements that had emerged out of the one-day session. India has to learn from the experiences - good and bad - of rubber growers from Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam etc. We, in India, have the talent and resources to develop rubber plantations as profitable business proposition and push up productivity and become top of the world. Like oil, rubber is a natural resource, and India should strengthen cooperation among rubber producers like OPEC to dictate global prices.
