Cooper's profits up 11%, sales down 15%

Cooper Tire & Rubber Company's profits went up by 11% to $53.2 million in the July-September 2015 quarter largely due to higher sales of high-profit tyres in North America and Latin America. Sales declined 15% because of the absence of Cooper's former partner, Cooper Chengshan Tire Co., in China. Cooper sold its interest in the venture to its partner in December 2014 after the failed purchase of Cooper by Apollo Tyres of India.
