Auto sector fuels growth of China's rubber industry

China has maintained its economic growth around 7.7% in 2012 and 2013. This has led to an impressive expansion of the automobile sector. The total output of the Chinese automobile industry registered 14.7% growth in 2013 to 22.11 million units (Table 1). While the passenger vehicle sector registered the highest growth of 18.1% (15.75 million units), commercial vehicle and mini car sectors posted 7.7% (4.06 million units) and 1.8% (2.30 million units) respectively.
