War and rubber

It was during World War II, the monopoly of natural rubber came under serious threat, though efforts to find alternatives to conventional natural rubber from Heuea and developing synthetic rubbers started in a big way. Even during World War I itself, moves in these directions had been there in a limited scale. Hence it is interesting to note that there is a clear correlation between war and rubber.
