industry wants steps to bridge NR deficit

Rubber consuming interests in India have asked for urgent and effective steps to bridge the gap between domestic production and consumption of natural rubber for enhancing value addition within the country. Addressing media persons recently, Vinod Simon, President of All India Rubber Industries Association (AIRIA), and Rajiv Budhraja, Director General of Automotive Tyre Manufacturers Association (ATMA), said that availability of land being limited in traditional rubber growing areas, there is a need to evolve a new model including PPP (Public Private Partnership) to intensify rubber cultivation in non-traditional areas within the country (North-Eastern Region).
