"The days of confrontation are over. Now it is time to tread the path of co-operation between the planters and the labourers," said Shibu Baby John, Kerala Minister for Labour. Inaugurating the 72nd Annual Gen- eral Meeting of the Association of Planters of Kerala (APK), on September 24, 2011, in Kochi, India, the Minister said that productivity-linked wages have to be acceptable for the workers too, especially in these days of labour shortage. The Kerala Government has set up a Plantation Consultative Committee headed by the Chief Minister to take care of the issues of the plantation sector.
