ANSI revises safety standard on air nailers, staplers

The revision of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) safety standard impacts the actuation systems (contact-trip, sequential, etc.) available on future tools. This standard is not a government regulation and it is considered voluntary. There are three major differences between the 2002 standard and the 1993 standard it replaces. It: reflects developments in tool technology and addresses, in detail, various actuation systems and their design, use and sale; specifies particular wording for tool safety labels; specifies three safety symbols to be used on tool safety labels.
