Home Slicker passes wind load testing

Benjamin Obdyke Inc., Horsham, PA, announced that its moisture-eliminating rain-screen for sidewalls, Home Slicker, has no adverse effect on wind load performance of siding, according to ASTM E72. In order to meet the intended requirements of the building code, a wall system must be able to withstand the wind pressure characteristic of the location in which it is constructed. ASTM E72 contains a standard protocol to determine the maximum load that a wall can resist before it fails. A negative pressure differential is created on the cladding side of the wall system and incrementally increased until failure. Failure is reached when the siding pulls off or other components of the system break.
