AN UPDATE ON THE MIDDLESEX FELLS FLORA

A study of the vascular flora of the Middlesex Fells Reservation, a suburban forest reserve in greater Boston, was made over nine years from April 2003 to September 2011 (Hamlin et al. 2012). We compiled a checklist, determined the frequency of each taxon, and documented all natural community types occurring in the reservation. Here, we report on new species found between September 1, 2011 and November 30, 2012, increases in frequency of occurrence, apparent losses, and corrections to update the original report. We made many visits to the reservation in 2012, totaling approximately 200 hours. Effort was often focused on taxa that we believed had been previously under-reported.
