Whilst a student at Harrow, 'naked raku' (aka 'glaze resist raku') hooked me as a total process for achieving the form, surface and markings I desired. I devoured the philosophy of Paul Soldner and wondered at the work of David Roberts, Ashraf Hanna and Tim Andrews. Although determined to know more, pushing boundaries proved an uphill struggle. In developing my practice and learning from every mishap (I learnt a lot] the failure rate gradually became minimal. Those experiences seem to have helped many starting out down this road who seek advice at ceramic fairs and via the website.
