摘要

Information spreads fast, but even faster with the use of social media. For instance, if one goes to twitter and searches "Farm Bill" it can be seen that many people have tweeted about the recent passing of the Farm Bill and re-tweeted information about this. This increased the attention given to this bill as seen by the hundreds of tweets on this topic. This is a prime example of how fast information flows from one person to the next. Companies especially have an advantage. If one is already known by thousands of people all over the world, what better way to share their accomplishments and expertise than through social media? Major agricultural companies are currently using various forms of social media such as YouTube, Twitter, and Facebook. But, how many people is the information reaching? How are they doing in comparison to other agriculture companies? What could they be doing differently? Social media and agricultural companies have the potential to build strong connections between consumers, workers, and the general public with technical, relevant, and interesting information. These are the topics that are going to be addressed in this article by taking a look at two major agriculture companies and critiquing how well they use their social media in comparison to each other.
