Three types of LiF:Mg,Cu,P phosphors with different pre-annealing temperatures have been studied using glow curve analysis techniques. The principal dosimetric glow peak near 230 degrees C is confirmed to be composed of two overlapping peaks. Both MCP-N pellets and GR200 chips show significant changes in peak temperature, peak height and trapping parameters after being annealed at temperatures higher than 260 degrees C. Specifically: the activation energy and pre-exponential factor for the principle glow peaks are shown to decrease with increasing annealing temperature. This occurs while the peak height is decreasing and the peak temperature is increasing due to these annealing treatments. Comparing the trapping parameters of these LiF:Mg,Cu,P phosphors with those of single crystal samples confirms the important role played by phosphorus in determining the thermoluminescent sensitivity in these materials.
