摘要

On January 26, 2010, we celebrated the 120th birthday anniversary of a prominent scientist, organizer of science and production, one of the leading participants of the Atomic Project of the Soviet Union, founder of the widely known radiochemical ("Khlopin's") school, Academician Vitalii Grigor'evich Khlopin. With his profound special knowledge and wide general erudition, Vitalii Grigor'evich not only founded the principles of the domestic radiochemistry, but also left vast creative heritage in inorganic and analytical chemistry, and also in chemistry of radioactive elements. Khlopin devoted large efforts to the build-up and development of new special branches of industry: radium, atomic, helium. Sharing the ideas of prominent naturalist V.I. Vernadsky, Khlopin profoundly and philosophically understood the process of science progress and formation of new knowledge, involving two mutually supplementing but opposite trends: subdivision of science into specialized fields of knowledge and integration of the results obtained in adjacent fields of science to attain the comprehensive knowledge.
