The article by Fintak et al on the incidence of endophthalmitis related to intravitreal injection of bevacizumab and ranibizumab.

We read with interest the article by Fintak et al on the incidence of endophthalmitis related to intravitreal injection of bevacizumab and ranibizumab. The authors adopted a retrospective approach to evaluate the incidence of endophthalmitis in a total of 14,320 ranibizumab injections. Their total number of patients was not revealed; however, they reported three cases of infectious endophthalmitis in the group of patients who received intravitreal ranibizumab. We would be interested if the authors could provide more information on the total number of patients included in the study. A risk-related assessment per patient could then be calculated and compared with the previous studies on the same topic.
