A three-component domino reaction of aromatic aldehyde, 1H-indazol-6-amine, and tetronic acid or 4-hydroxy-2H-chromen-2-one is described, giving pyrazolo [3,4-f]quinoline derivatives in high yields under catalyst-free conditions.
