A field study was undertaken with the objective to study the response of sole and intercropping system of pearl millet to fertilizer application in conjuction with bio-fertilizer at Main Pearl Millet Research Station, JAU, Jamnagar (Gujarat) during kharif 2003. The treatments comprised two cropping systems viz., sole pearl millet and pearl millet intercropping with greengram as main plots and combination of seven different levels of fertilizer. Intercropping of pearl millet (GHB-558) with greengram (GM-4) (2:1) was found beneficial and gave 26.83 and 23.75% higher pearl millet grain yield equivalent (PMGYE) and net return, respectively, over sole pearl millet. Maximum grain yield, fodder yield, PMGYE and net return were recorded in treatment N_60+P_40/ha. It was followed by N_40+P_20+BF and N_40+P_20 kg/ha, respectively. The yield enhancement was supplemented by increase in yield attributing characters. Application of bio-fertilizer gave considerably more grain and fodder yield of pearl millet.
