A field experiment was conducted in Anand, Gujarat, India, on bajra-napier hybrid [Pennisetum glaucum x P. purpureum] during 2000-03 with three levels of farmyard manure (FYM; 0, 15 and 30 t/ha as basal every year) and three N levels (50, 75 and 100 kg/ha after each cut). No FYM application resulted in the lowest green forage, dry matter and crude protein yields, while application of 30 t FYM/ha every year was found significantly superior in green forage and crude protein yields to 0 and 15 t FYM/ha in total yield of 22 cuts. Successive increase in N application from 50 to 75 and 100 kg N/ha after each cut significantly increased green forage, dry matter and crude protein yields in total of 22 cuts as well as increased the crude protein content in fodder of bajra-napier hybrid.
