摘要

Field studies were conducted in Gujarat, India, to determine the effect of nitrogen (N) fertilizer levels and its time of application on yield and quality of irrigated durum wheat cv. GW-1139 on loamy sand soils. The results revealed that crop fertilized with 160 kg N/ha yielded significantly higher grain yield than 120 kg N/ha, but it was at par with 140 kg N/ha. While significantly the highest grain yield was obtained under application of N in 2 equal splits at basal and first node development stage, which evidently had resulted from higher number of spikelets/spike, number of grains/spike and 1000-grain weight. Thus, the potential yield and profit secured by application of 140 kg N/ha applied equal quantity at basal and first node development stage of the crop.
