The landfill tax is starting to hit home

The low value of Landfill Allowance Trading Scheme (LATS) allowances for 2010 at a mere pound 0.10 compared to a landfill tax last year of pound 32 shows a remarkable gap between the two. It is hardly too surprising then that local authorities and waste management companies are now of the belief that it is the tax which is beginning to bite in terms of diversion rather than LATS.
