Waste sector welcomes role for energy in 'zero waste' plans

The waste sector has welcomed the emphasis placed on recovering energy from waste made in a policy announcement by environment secretary Hilary Benn this week.Launching plans to make England a "zero waste nation'.the secretary of state said that in 10 years time, 75% of household waste would either be used for energy recovery or recycled. And he said councils would be encouraged to collect food waste and recover energy from it.
