摘要

Optical fibres have a basic structure including a glass, quartz or transparent resin core, a cladding layer, and a polymer coating layer which may be formed from a radiation cured resin. Larger diameter optical fibres normally have a cladding layer formed from a curable transparent layer and are referred to as polymer clad optical fibres. Fluorine-containing compounds are known as components of the UV curable layer, but it is difficult to produce a layer with a low refractive index, transparency, strength, adhesion and flexibility.
