Electrical wires used in automotive applications and telephone cables are usually insulated copper or aluminium wires. The coatings are generally thermoplastic resins, such as PVC or polyethylene. Thermoplastic resins, however, are prone to external stress affecting their durability and also to fusing together at high temperatures.
