A sublimation dye process generally consists of two steps. The first step is to apply the ink or toner containing a sublimation dye to a transfer sheet in the desired image. The second is to apply heat and transfer the image to the permanent substrate. However, this process has drawbacks in that organic solvents are often used and the sublimation toner can offset onto the permanent substrate or require excessive heating.
