摘要

One of the major themes in coatings technology today is sustainability: developing and using polymeric materials sourced from renewable resources. Cis-l,4-polyisoprene derived from natural rubber has some interesting properties including good strength and fatigue resistance. Telechelic liquid natural rubber is a versatile precursor to a wide range of polymeric materials, including in this paper use of oxidative chain cleavage to produce carbonyltelechelic cis-l,4-polyisoprene, which was used to produce epoxidised hydroxytelechelic and epoxidised-acrylated telechelic cis-l,4-polyisoprene. In this paper, some of the oligomers syntliesised contained quaternary ammonium groups in order to introduce anti-bacterial activity.
