We write this note, not to discuss critically the fine contribution by Melluso et al. (2011) but to correct what we believe is an error of nomenclature that should not become precedent. The error in question is the name - "Takarindoha" - used by Melluso et al. (2011) for the small field of mostly olivine-nepheline melilitites a few km west of Vatomandry, Madagascar. Melluso et al. (2011) refer to this area as the "Takarindoha-Vatomandry sector" (p. 505), "Takarindoha-Vatomandry volcanic field" (p. 506), or "Takarindoha-Vatomandry district" (p. 507), citing accurately, the name ("Takarindoha") that appears on the widely-referenced geologic map of Madagascar (Besairie, 1964). The same reference to "Takarindoha" appears in Woolley(2001).
