US-based renewable chemicals company Amyris Inc. in mid-April resumed industrial production of farnesene following a planned maintenance period at its fermentation plant located in the town of Brotas in southeastern Brazil. President and CEO John Melo said that the plant was currently delivering similar operational performance to what the company experienced in its quality runs in late 2013. He added that Amyris remained on track with its 2014 business plan and expected to produce its first fragrance oil, patchouli, later this year at the Brotas plant.
