The industry is used to product companies making bold claims, but those of California-based Steril-Aire are pretty gasp-inducing by any standards. For, not only does the firm claim its ultraviolet lamps clean cooling coils more thoroughly than conventional cleaners, destroying mould, spores and the like, it contends that the effect is an average 20 per cent improvement in energy efficiency in an older HVAC system. However, where the claims move into jaw-dropping territory is that siting the lamps around your cooling coils will actually reduce absenteeism in your workforce.
