MOST RETAIL STORES REMAIN OBLIVIOUS TO ONE OF THE MOST IMMEDIATE CHALLENGES TO their businesses, with the ban on the use of virgin R22 refrigerant gas from the end of this year. This could leave many without heating or cooling, or could demand an immediate, costly and unscheduled replacement of equipment to allow them to keep operating successfully. R22 refrigerant gas has been identified as having ozone-depleting potential and use of virgin R22 gas is outlawed from 1 January 2010.
