This autumn, when the pupils of Whitmore High School work up a sweat in their new gym, they'll be doing so in the knowledge that the air conditioning will have minimal impact on the environment. This is because rather than the conventional cooling approach of allowing waste heat to go to atmosphere, at Whitmore, heat from the pupil's exertions will be transferred deep into the school's car park where it will remain until the suite's air conditioning system can make use of it.
