A technology for fabricating ceramic filters of high-alumina, periclase, and silica compositions 130 mm in diameter and 20 40 mm thick with a pore size of 1-5 mm and a porosity of 75percent is described. The filters have been tested for liquid metal permeation. The optimum pore size is shown to be 3 - 5 mm, and the heating temperature of the filter is 950-1000 deg C.
