摘要

Radiographic grids are used to improve image quality by absorbing scattered radiation before it reaches the image receptor. Grids are constructed of very thin strips of lead interspaced with aluminum. Using grids during portable examinations is common, especially when using digital imaging, such as computed radiography (CR) systems. A surgeon ordered a portable abdomen radiograph in the operating room following a lengthy abdominal surgery on a 56-year-old man. A CR cassette with a slip-on grid was used to obtain the image. The processed image reveals multiple, random linear densities (see Figure l). Upon further investigation, it was discovered that the grid was damaged, presumably from being dropped (see Figure 2).
