Results from annual meat goat performance tests

The 1999 and inaugural Georgia and Southeast meat goat buck performance evaluation was completed on October 31, with the participation of eight breeders from three states who consigned 20 bucks ...16 Boer, 3 Kiko and one 1st generation Genemaster. According to Dr. Will R. Getz, extension goat and sheep specialist at the Georgia Small Ruminant Research & Extension Center, this performance test was implemented as a joint action between the Fort Valley State University, the Georgia Cooperative Extension Service, and Georgia Meat Goat Association. Dr. Getz went on to say, "We were pleased with the response to this initial opportunity and will be getting feedback from our steering committee on the advisability of offering the service to breeders next year."
