A field study was conducted at Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru College of Agriculture and Research Institute, Karaikal, Uttar Pradesh, India to asses the performances of Bajra (Pennisetum glaucum)-Napier (P. purpureum) hybrid grass (Co3) in terms of green fodder yield in the made up soils of uplands and to find out the optimum interval between cuttings to maximize the green fodder yield. The treatment comprised of 7 cutting intervals viz., 45 days (T1), 55 days (T2), 65 days (T3), 75 days (T4), 85 days (T5), 95 days (T6) and 105 days (T7). The first cutting was done at 90 days after planting uniformly in all the plots, then subsequent cuttings were done as per the treatment schedule. Green fodder yields were statistically comparable when cuttings were made at 45, 55, 65 and 75 days interval. The green fodder yields were 41.26, 41.80, 42.13 and 42.81 tonnes/ha respectively when cuttings were made at 45, 55, 65 and 75 days. Among the four treatments, cuttings at 45 days interval could be recommended to farmers as it is advantageous to them in view of frequent intervals (6 cuttings in a year). The results also indicated that the green fodder yield was not increased when cutting interval was increased beyond 75 days.
