Copper and aluminum are two of the most impor tant conductor materials in common use. Cop per has excellent electrical conductivity, but its resources are limited, with only 690 million tons estimated as global reserves, resulting in a high copper price being maintained in global markets for long pe riods of time. On the other hand, aluminum resources are relatively abundant at about 5% of the earth's crust, and the international aluminum price has remained at a relatively modest level with less volatility in recent years.
