Indalex introduced a vertical extrusion powder coating system at its Gainesville, Georgia plant that is able to powder coat extrusions at nearly 25 feet per minute-a giant leap in powder coating production capability. Until now, this pace could only be achieved with electrostatic liquid paint systems. For the design and installation of Indalex's complete powder line, Nordson partnered with Belco. Many extruders have recently begun exploring powder coating options as powder gains a stronger foothold in the aluminum extrusion market. The advent of super-durable powder formulations, which can meet the demanding AAMA requirements, opened the door for powder to replace liquid paint in Gainesville, which has two vertical electrostatic liquid paint lines.
