Crude oil regressed sharply today amid conjecture that Europe’s reemerging debt crisis and actions to dampen Asia’s economic growth will restrict commodity use in energy. Oil tumbled more than 3%, bottoming out at an intraday low of $3.964, as European ministers met to discuss providing continued financial relief to banks in Ireland. Meanwhile, investors worried over the Bank of Korea’s actions, as the government takes steps to raise interest rates for the second time this year. The Chinese government is also likely to take similar steps to control rising prices as well. Lastly, the US equities market tumbled amid the growing fear in the global markets, which led to weakening oil prices.
