November natural gas futures fell to a fresh 13-month low today, marking a fifth straight weekly decline for prices as lackluster temperatures across the US limit demand and boost already swollen supply
Prices could erode even further next week, potentially testing a $2 handle before expiring on Wednesday. But much depends on Tropical Storm Richard, which is poised to move into the Gulf, as well as early November weather forecasts. “There's wasn't a lot of concern regarding Tropical Storm Richard today, but if it turns into a hurricane over the weekend and turns back toward the Gulf of Mexico, it could create a little bit of a floor under prices,” said a gas trader in Texas.
