The federal Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement said operators are continuing to ferry crews back to rigs and platforms in the Gulf of Mexico that had been evacuated in anticipation of Tropical Storm Karen last week
BSEE said that at 1 p.m. CDT Tuesday, 17 platforms (3.01% of the Gulf fleet) and no drilling rigs remain evacuated. That is a major drop from the 271 platforms and 20 rigs reported evacuated on Saturday. The federal Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) said the volume of shut-in oil production stood at 90,953 barrels per day Tuesday -- about 6.5% of total normal volumes in the Gulf of Mexico.
