The report was well above analysts' consensus for an 88 Bcf injection and outside of the upper end of the 80 Bcf to 90 Bcf range suggested by Bentek Energy pipeline flow data. Today's report compares with an 18 Bcf injection seen during the same week last year, while the five-year average build is around 54 Bcf. It would only take a 72 Bcf injection next week to push storage levels above last year's record pace. Preliminary estimates for next week's build are in the mid-80s.
