Leader One, a subsidiary of Energy Corporation of America, has filed an application with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to take a depleted gas reservoir near Denver and convert it to a storage site.

The Deer Creek Field is about 40 miles southeast of Denver, and according to Leader One, could hold up to 7.5 billion cubic feet of working gas and 2.5 Bcf of cushion gas. The project calls for an 18-mile, 24-inch pipeline to connect the storage site with the High Plans Pipeline and Colorado Interstate Gas systems.
