In a conference call Thursday to discuss the company’s third-quarter earnings, Transocean Chief Executive Steve Newman said it will share its findings for an internal investigation into the loss of the Deepwater Horizon with the National Oil Spill Commission next week

Newman added that a full report will released late this year, or early in 2011. Newman said, "We are currently finalizing our own conclusions and awaiting results of inspection work on the Deepwater Horizon’s blowout preventer." The commission is scheduled to hold public hearings Monday and Tuesday in Washington D.C., on its preliminary findings on the loss of the rig and BP’s Macondo well blowout. The commission has said its primary focus will be on the causes of the Apr. 20 explosion. In an earlier report released by BP, the company said a large share of blame for the disaster must be shared by Transocean and Halliburton – both of whom have said they were following BP’s orders. Newman said the company is putting the disaster behind it, but have not forgotten it either.
