Algal oils producer Solazyme has entered into a development contract with trading and services group Mitsui & Co., to produce a number of triacylgly-cerol oils targeted at the oleochemical industry. The new venture is valued at US$20 million over a number of years and will include the further development of Solazyme's high-myristic algal oil, as well as the periodic introduction of other triacylglycerol products for applications such as plastics, lubricants and personal care products.
