FLNG rapidly gaining acceptance from sponsors of new gas projects

Even though not a single floating LNG (FLNG) project has yet started up, the list of planned projects is growing impressively. Following the recent final investment decision (FID) on Petronas FLNG-2, four projects are now under construction and other projects have been proposed for the US, Australia, Indonesia, Mozambique, Equatorial Guinea and elsewhere. Gas Strategies examines the reasons behind this surge of interest in what remains an unproven technology, the progress being made by the four post-FID projects, and the front-runners amongst the rest of the field.
