Japan buys butane to cover mandatory stock requirements

Japan's LPG importers are maximising spot butane purchases at the expense of propane, largely because of the country's mandatory stocks requirement. Slow purchases during summer and unexpected Saudi Arabian supply cuts in September-November has resulted in low butane stocks at most Japanese import terminals and storage facilities.
