Sri Lanka grabs back assets

Shell's departure from Sri Lanka marks a reversal of the privatisation of the country's LPG sector, as the government wrests back control. The Sri Lankan government paid Shell $63mn on 3 November to buy the 51 pc controlling share of joint venture Shell Gas Lanka (SGL) that it did not already own, along with 100pc of Shell Terminal Lanka (STL), which operates an 8,000t terminal near Colombo.
