摘要

The shellfish growing area on the northwest end of Vancouver Island, from Vargas Island in the south to Scott Islands in the north, requires a reevalualion survey in order to maintain its Approved classification for shellfish harvesting. As a result of the Department of Environment's (DOE) funding cuts, outside funding through cost-sharing is being sought for water quality monitoring in remote areas such as this which are expensive to survey. In April a meeting attended by DOE and the stakeholders was held to discuss possible cost-sharing arrangements for surveying the northwest growing area.
